For only $2100 per month you can now rent your very own green apartment near Los Angeles’ Staples Center. This is the country’s first solar-powered apartment building that is completely self-reliant and is not only capable of powering its own 20 apartments, but will also be feeding surplus energy back into the grid.

Each apartment boasts smart tech, ranging from LED lighting and iPad-powered solar energy trackers to star-rated microwaves, perfect for the trendsetter who seeks a luxury lifestyle with top amenities.

The complete structure is powered by 10 photo-voltaic panels secured to the roof of the building, with additional energy coming by way of 22 solar panels. Each unit receives an estimated three kilowatts of energy and excess power is pumped back into the grid.

Let’s hope that the Eco-Apartment becomes the new standard when building a home.
