Samsung is being sued by Jonathan Strobel, a Florida resident, after his Samsung Note 7 exploded in his pocket. His phone heated up in his pocket before exploding, leaving him with second-degree burns on his right thigh and left thumb.
Strobel is seeking damages for lost wages, pain and suffering, medical bills and more in the lawsuit that was filled in Florida state court. Samsung is yet to comment.
Danielle Meister Cohen, a spokesperson for Samsung has advised Note 7 owners to switch off their phones and exchange them immediately, but unfortunately the device recall came too late, after many users experienced shock after their Samsung Note 7’s exploded.
This could be the first of many lawsuits thanks to Samsung’s haste to get the Note 7 on the market before the new iPhone. So far there have been 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage in the United States alone because of the Note 7’s faulty battery, all before the official recall.
